Kristy Silman North Carolina Mental Health Counselor

Kristy Silman, LCMHC

She/Her/Hers

Welcome to Introspection Counseling Center, where your journey to improved mental health and well-being begins. My name is Kristy Silman, and I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor with a passion for helping individuals navigate life’s challenges. I hold a Master of Arts degree in Forensic Mental Health Counseling and am dually licensed to provide counseling services in North Carolina and New York. My approach to therapy is rooted in empathy, understanding, and collaboration, creating a safe space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions without judgment.

Outside of my work as a therapist, I enjoy exploring new places, tasting different foods, and watching live shows. These experiences enrich my life and provide me with a broad perspective that I bring into my counseling practice.

Since beginning in private practice in the Fall of 2022, I have worked with a diverse range of clients, including those with developmental disabilities, substance abuse issues, co-occurring disorders, and individuals involved in the criminal justice system. My experience also extends to family therapy and supporting individuals through their first episodes of psychosis. This varied background has equipped me with the skills and insights to address a wide array of mental health concerns, making me well-prepared to help you on your journey to better mental health.

Providing services in the states of North Carolina and New York.

Specialities

I specialize in working with adults who are actively engaged in their work, education, or family life but may be struggling in one or two areas. Whether it’s managing symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, or navigating significant life decisions, you will gain the support and guidance you need. My ideal client is someone who has the capacity for self-awareness and is motivated to make positive changes in their life.

Life can be overwhelming, and it’s not uncommon to feel less than satisfied in certain areas—be it at home, work, school, or within your social circles. Perhaps you’re facing a difficult decision or experiencing something entirely new, and you’re not sure how to proceed. This is where I can help. I believe that everyone has the capacity to live their best life, but sometimes, we need help to articulate our needs or to give ourselves permission to make the choices we already know are right for us.

My approach is to explore these challenges with you in a non-judgmental space, providing appropriate psychoeducation to fill in the gaps where you might need additional knowledge or understanding. Whether you’re dealing with general anxiety, social anxiety, depression, or the aftermath of trauma, I’m here to help you navigate these complex emotions and develop strategies that empower you to move forward.

Our Work Together

Therapy with me is a collaborative process. I believe that the best outcomes are achieved when you are motivated to make changes and are willing to engage in self-exploration. When you work with me, you’ll develop a greater sense of self-awareness, allowing you to understand and make sense of your thoughts and behaviors. This self-awareness is the foundation for making different, more informed choices that align with your true self and your goals.

During our sessions, we will work together to create a customized treatment plan tailored specifically to your needs. This plan will include interventions that are best suited to help you achieve your goals, whether that’s reducing anxiety, managing depression, processing trauma, or making significant life decisions. I will provide education as needed, ensuring that you have all the information you need to make the best choices for yourself.

I understand that taking the first step toward change can be the hardest part, but I want you to know that you don’t have to do it alone. I am here to support you every step of the way, offering the guidance and encouragement you need to move forward with confidence. My role is to empower you, to help you see the possibilities that lie ahead, and to support you as you take the necessary steps to create a life that is fulfilling and meaningful.

At Introspection Counseling Center, I offer online counseling to clients across North Carolina and New York, making it easier for you to access the support you need from the comfort of your own home. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, or navigating a major life transition, I’m here to help you on your journey toward better mental health.

If you’re ready to take that first step, I’m here to walk with you, providing the tools and support you need to live your best life. Let’s work together to create the change you’re seeking. Book your free consultation today!
